Siam Horolog · Benefits

What an Independent Workshop Offers That Others Do Not

No brand affiliations, no upselling, no work done without your knowledge. Just the bench and the watch.

Overview

Six Reasons Clients Return

Depth of Experience

Over fifteen years in independent servicing, with the range to take on both simple quartz work and complex multi-complication movements.

Transparent Pricing

Service rates are stated before any work begins. If additional parts are needed, that conversation happens before the components are ordered.

Written Service Record

Timing readings, replaced parts, and workshop observations accompany every overhaul. The record belongs to the client.

Timing Machine Accuracy

All mechanical work is regulated and verified on a multi-position timing machine. Readings are shared, not just referenced internally.

Straightforward Communication

Questions are answered honestly. If the work is outside scope, that is said plainly — no vague estimates, no unnecessary complexity added.

Accessible Bangkok Location

Silom Road is well-served by BTS (Surasak station), MRT (Silom station), and taxi. Drop-in consultations are welcome during workshop hours.

In Detail

Each Advantage, Explained

Professional Expertise

The workshop head has been servicing movements since the mid-1990s. That depth shows in the work — specifically in the ability to diagnose faults before disassembly, and to identify worn parts before they cause secondary damage. Experienced watchmakers do not simply follow a service protocol; they read the movement and respond to what they find.

  • Experience across Swiss and Japanese calibres
  • Movement fault diagnosis before disassembly
  • Chronograph and complication specialisation
  • Consistent standard across all service tiers

Workshop Equipment

The workshop uses a multi-position timing machine for all mechanical regulation, an ultrasonic cleaning system running on a closed solvent circuit, and a pressure testing unit for water resistance verification. These are not exceptional tools — they are what a properly equipped independent workshop should have. What matters is that they are used correctly and maintained on schedule.

  • Multi-position timing machine for all mechanical work
  • Closed ultrasonic cleaning system
  • Pressure testing equipment
  • Equipment calibrated and maintained regularly

Customer Service

At Siam Horolog, questions from clients are not a distraction — they are part of the service. When a watch comes in, the owner is invited to describe what they have observed. When work is complete, the findings are explained clearly. If something unexpected is found during a service, contact is made before proceeding. This is not exceptional — it is simply how the workshop believes a repair relationship should operate.

  • Pre-service discussion on arrival
  • Contact if unexpected findings arise mid-work
  • Clear explanation at collection
  • Responses to email enquiries within one working day

Value and Pricing

The three service tiers are priced to reflect what the work actually involves — not what the market might accept. Battery and gasket replacement is ฿2,500. A full mechanical overhaul is ฿5,400. Chronograph and complication service is ฿8,200. These figures include the work described in each service, and nothing is added without discussion. Where a watch needs only partial service, that is how it is priced.

  • Fixed published rates per service tier
  • No additions without prior client approval
  • Pricing reflects actual labour and parts
  • Partial service priced proportionally

Results and Records

A watch serviced here does not simply leave with a verbal assurance that the work is done. It leaves with a written record: timing readings before and after, parts replaced, pressure test result where applicable, and any observations worth noting. The owner can read exactly what happened and why. That record also serves as documentation of the watch's service history — valuable for both ongoing maintenance and eventual sale.

  • Written timing data before and after service
  • Full parts log with replacement sources
  • Pressure test result included
  • Record usable as service history documentation

Distinctive Features

Things Not Commonly Found Elsewhere

Seven-Day Observation for Complications

After a chronograph or calendar watch is assembled, it is left to run on a timing monitor for a minimum of seven days. Most workshops consider the work done at assembly. This additional period allows any settling issues to surface before the watch leaves the bench.

Old Parts Returned on Request

Replaced components — springs, gaskets, worn crowns — are retained until collection. Clients who wish to keep the original parts for reference or documentation may request them at no additional charge.

Pre-Service Condition Assessment

Before work begins, the watch is examined under magnification and the findings are noted in writing. This document is shared with the owner. It ensures that any pre-existing marks or issues are recorded before the bench touches the piece.

Explanation Included at Collection

When the watch is collected, the watchmaker is available to walk through the service record, describe what was found, and answer questions. This is not a brief handover — it is time set aside for the conversation the watch deserves.
