The Workshop, and the People Behind It
A brief account of how Siam Horolog came to occupy its bench on Silom Road, and what guides the work done here.
Our Story
How Siam Horolog Began
Siam Horolog opened on Silom Road in 2009, in a small space that had previously housed a tailor. The founder, Khun Wichit Kasemsan, had spent fifteen years working in movement servicing before deciding to run an independent workshop — one that could give each watch the time it needed, without the pressures of high-volume turnover.
The name was chosen to reflect both place and purpose. Siam is the old name for Thailand, carrying a sense of quietness and tradition. Horolog — from the Greek for timekeeper — points to the single discipline the workshop pursues. Together they describe what happens here: careful horology, practised in Bangkok.
The workshop takes in watches of all kinds, from straightforward quartz models needing a battery and gasket to elaborate chronographs that require a week on the bench before they are ready to go back to their owners. Each is given the same quality of attention. The scale of the task is different; the approach is not.
Over the years the team has grown to four people, each with a specific area of focus. Work is logged, parts are documented, and timing readings are shared with owners as a matter of course. This transparency is not a selling point — it is simply how the workshop believes a repair should be handled.

Standards
How Work Is Conducted Here
Closed Solvent Cleaning
Movement parts are cleaned in a closed ultrasonic system. Solvents are changed on a set schedule to maintain cleaning quality across all work.
Timing Machine Regulation
All mechanical movements are regulated on a timing machine in six positions. Readings before and after service are recorded and provided to the owner.
Pressure Testing
Where the case design allows, each watch is pressure-tested after assembly. Results are noted in the service record regardless of outcome.
Documented Parts
Every component replaced is logged by name and source. Owners are informed of any substitution before it is made, and old parts are returned on request.
Extended Observation
Chronograph and complication pieces are observed on a timing machine for a minimum of seven days after assembly before being returned.
Client Confidentiality
Watch information and service records are held only for the period required and are not shared with third parties. Details are available in our Privacy Policy.
Workshop Philosophy
Watchmaking as a Considered Practice
Watch repair is not a task that rewards speed. A movement that has been rushed through cleaning will often show its objection within a few months. A gasket seated under time pressure may not seat cleanly. The work done at Siam Horolog is paced by what the watch requires, not by throughput.
Bangkok has a number of establishments offering watch servicing, ranging from mall kiosks to high-end brand service centres. Siam Horolog occupies a different position: an independent workshop with the depth to handle complex mechanical work, without the overhead — or the waiting lists — of a brand service centre. The pricing reflects actual labour and parts, stated plainly before any work begins.
Customers who bring a watch here are often people who value the piece, whether sentimentally or practically. The approach is shaped by that. Every observation made during inspection is noted. Every replacement is discussed. The watch goes back to its owner in better condition than it arrived, with a written account of what was done.
